SOAG – Autumn championships – England/Wales and Scotland
Friday 20th-Sunday 22nd October 2023
This event was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, thanks to Mike, Jim and Darren for their planning and organisation efforts.
This years English&Welsh/Scottish event will take place at Alnwick Castle golf club in Northumberland. This is located 32 miles north of Newcastle Upon Tyne and consists of an excellent par 70 built on a mature parkland course stretching over 6,200 yards. It offers a variety of challenges to golfers of all abilities with a mixture of par threes, fours and five with many natural hazards that can play havoc with stray shots and spectacular views of the local countryside.
However by far the most interesting thing about the club is that the Head Professional is our own Darren Grey. He has made all the arrangements and we can be sure of a warm welcome at the club.
Broad details of the weekend are as follows:
Friday 20th October – 10.00 – 11.30 arrival – tea/coffee bacon bun
12.30 onwards practice tee times – soup/sandwiches after
Saturday 21st October – 9.00 bacon bun tea/coffee on arrival
10.00 English & Welsh Championship
19.00 Dinner
Sunday 22nd October – 9.00 bacon bun tea/coffee on arrival
10.00 Scottish Championship
14.00 Soup and sandwiches
14.30 Prizegiving and depart
The cost will be a remarkable £65 per person. With thanks to Darren for negotiating such a good rate.
There are 6 buggies on site available at a reduced rate of £10 per day. Please note there are a few hills but not excessive. Please liaise with Darren Grey at the1ab@hotmail.co.uk to reserve a buggy, priority will be given to members with walking difficulty.
