A tribute to Peter Priscott, Honorary Vice President, past Secretary and Treasurer, Society of One-Armed Golfers

Peter sadly passed away on April 8th 2024. He was a tremendous supporter of our Society and participated in many Championships and Autumn meetings. He was a keen golfer and a very popular winner of the Presidents prize at the 2022 World Championship.

At a time when the Society was struggling to find members willing and able to take on roles of office, Peter stepped up in 2007 and for five years fulfilled the role of Society Secretary & Treasurer. He brought his personality and style to the role consistently ensuring all the 3 Regional Convenors were attending to arranging their Autumn meetings and the Championship. He did not hesitate, generally politely but when necessary not so, to remind Convenors of their responsibilities should he suspect a Society meeting was not being arranged in a timely manner. I fulfilled the role of English & Welsh convenor during Peter’s time in office and received complementary and ‘could do better’ feedback from Peter on a regular basis. This was never personal and it was always clear and obvious that Peter was passionate about maintaining the credibility of the Society and doing his best to ensure the continued enjoyable and successful Society meetings. Peter introduced the generation and publication of a quarterly Newsletter keeping members up to date with recent news and past events and the future schedule. This was very popular with members.

Peter will be remembered by many members for his diligence to the demands of Secretary & Treasurer during his term in office, his banter on and off the golf course and his personality which significantly contributed to the fabric of the Society. Our condolences and sympathy to Peter’s wife Anne and family, may he rest in peace.
